Crazy Hair Day!
We loved sharing our traditional clothing from our home country during our Cultural Parade!
Our final field trip to Iraq Al-Amir was a blast!
Observing the ruins...
Measuring and recording...
Having our snack...
Learning about the crafts...
The end of the year concert was a bit hit!
During math we have been thinking of how to divide up cakes to give equal portions to a certain number of people. This is connected to our geometry unit focusing on fractions, partitioning rectangles, sets, and arrays. We worked in groups and presented our posters to our classmates.
Our new science unit "Properties of Matter" has been a blast! We have been exploring how the properties of matter impact the objects function. We have tested matter for flexibility, strength, and absorbency.
We really enjoyed sharing our poetry with 2LB and 2R. We gave each other feedback on our poetry folders with 'Stars and Wishes'!
Our Social Studies economics unit ended with a fabulous market day! WE loved buying and selling various goods!
We had an incredible field trip this morning! The students were so knowledgable about local businesses and used all of our new Social Studies vocabulary accurately (goods, services, natural/capital/human resources, products, consumers). We also learned so much about how Desert Rose Holy Land Designs functions as a local business. The students learned sign language because this company employees people that are deaf. We also learned the process of how the olive wood is carved and made into a product to sell. Thanks to the parent volunteers that were able to join us! A BIG thank you to the people at Desert Rose Holy Land Designs that made this field trip possible.
We are expanding our math measuring skills by building paper giants. Every giant has similar lengths but individual group widths for the various giant's body parts. We will compare how the giants are alike and different when we complete the project. Thanks to Mrs. Leishman for all of her volunteer help during math time and especially during this BIG math activity!
Book Character Day was a blast! What a wonderful way to kick off the book fair! SO many great costumes and favorite books to share!
Readers and Writers Week was INCREDIBLE! We met a famous author and illustrator, Chris White. He led a workshop for us teaching us how to draw and write rhyming poems. We had so many amazing mystery readers. We also got to wear our P.J.'s, drink hot cocoa, and share our favorite book! Thanks to everyone who made this possible!
We have been measuring, measuring, measuring for math! We started with non-standard units of measurement and then have progressed to measuring in inches and centimeters.
2F has started the New Year off right! We completed our latest mystery word 'Incredible' and voted on a breakfast waffle party. Rowley was kind to let us borrow his waffle maker and waffle making skills. We connected this to our math unit on measuring and as a review for reading and following a "How-To" writing piece.
We completed our last mystery word 'Magnificent'! We earn letters when we are meeting our class goals: 1. Ready and on time to learn 2. Work cooperatively 3. Quiet with the teacher's signal (Give Me 5) 4. Achieve goals 5. Good listeners
We voted on a class celebration of 'Bring Your Favorite Toy' day!
Mrs. Dajani came to our class to help us get started with the iPads. We learned how to take a photo of ourself and make that the screen shot. This way we can identify our own iPads easily! We also participated in the Hour of Code and received a certificate!
Our holiday party was a huge success! Thanks to Miss Dalia for organizing it, Miss Yula for making the wooden tree, parents for supplying the treats and joining us for the festivities.
We had a lovely time!
Thanks parents for all the food! The spread was incredible!
Singing Karaoke was a HUGE HIT!
Thanks to our Senior Buddies for taking us shopping at the Christmas Bazaar! We had SO much fun!
2F has been busy these past few weeks! I had a wonderful welcome back with a gorgeous poster hanging in the hall! Thank you students for such a special banner.
We have really been enjoying our science unit titled: Interdependent relationships in Ecosystems
Our vocabulary tree...students have added important words related to plants to our vocabulary tree. We have read these words and used these word in our writing and speaking.
Beautiful creative flowers
Observing our rapidly changing bean seeds we planted two weeks ago has been a real highlight! We draw and write our observations in our 'Science Notebook/I Wonder Books' as our plants grow and change.
Thanks to our room mom, Miss Dalia, our gratitude granola turned out AMAZING! Thanks to everyone that brought in such delicious ingredients!
The students did an excellent job presenting their gratitude posters! Please come view them in our hallway!
On Tuesday, November 25th, we met our new 'Senior Buddies' for the first time. We will partner with them throughout the year for various fun projects!
Dear 2F Students and Parents,
Thank you so much for the nice flowers and the notebook gift you sent me on Thursday. It was my pleasure to teach 2F this year. I am really going to miss you all. I look forward to seeing you in school when I am substituting for other teachers.
Love, Mrs. Sweis
It took us some time to make these purple people eaters, but it sure was fun. It spread our creativity to the hallways of the school.
Thank you so much Mrs. Abdeljaber, Mrs. El Halak, and Mrs. El Hadeed for helping us stuff our people eaters and staple them together. We really appreciated your support!
To welcome Mrs. Frazier to her class at ACS, 2F made her a huge welcome sign. Their personal touches made it so special.
Last week we visited the Learning Commons for the 2nd time. The class is really excited to be able to go there, check out books and go down the slide.
